About Vanessa’s Dumpling House

Vanessa’s Dumpling House is a shanghainese in New York, New York. It is listed at 1623 2nd Ave, New York, NY 10028, which places it among the local businesses of New York that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.

In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in New York; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in New York are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11:30 am–9:30 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (917) 261-2780. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is vanessas.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Its Google rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 269 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

New York is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in New York peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Amazing flavors. We got vegan options for everything. The vegan beef dumplings tasted so real I thought they mistakenly gave us real meat dumplings. The scallion pancake with tofu was crispy and flavorful. The best was the Dan Dan tofu sauce, tastef very authentic.

Went there after a few years and was pleasantly surprised at the number of Vegan options and how delicious they were. Must get items are spinach and mushroom wonton and the sesame pancake sandwich. The vegan Dan Dan noodles were also pretty delicious. Large quantity, reasonably priced.

Food is delicious and the staff is amazing. I love coming here. And my friend truly enjoyed the coconut smoothies!

Vanessa’s Dumpling House never disappoints. I ordered the steamed and pan-fried chive and pork dumplings, and they were absolutely on point—perfectly cooked, flavorful, and satisfying in every bite. The real standout, though, was the pan-fried wontons filled with chicken and shrimp. They were out of this world delicious—crispy on the outside, juicy, and packed with flavor on the inside. On top of the amazing food, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was welcoming and lively, making the whole experience even better. An easy 5-star spot—I’ll definitely be back.

I had a doctors appointment around and wanted something small to eat. They were quick, and the price is right. Dumplings were good. The sesame pancake needs more chives for my liking. Overall, nice place.
